I'd love to connect with you!

The world of teachers is sometimes hard to navigate, especially at the beginning of your career. I clearly remember the months before my first full-time teaching school year scouring the internet for guidance. I wanted progressive mentor teachers, educators who were pushing the limits so that I could model myself after them. I found a few here and there, but they didn't have recent posts, sometimes it just didn't feel like it was authentic for a number of reasons, or I wanted to reach out to them but didn't know how.

Look, being a #1stYearTeacher is hard no matter what. I am now in my seventh year teaching, and I have just begun to discover all the resources available for me as an English teacher - the best names to follow and books to read, the organizations I want to join, the seminars and conferences I would love to attend (and would for sure fangirl at), and the vast world that is Young Adult Literature.

I do not claim to know it all by any means whatsoever. I am learning every single day of every year. And that's what being a teacher is in my opinion. My goal with this space is to be transparent in my journey in hopes that an honest view into a high school English classroom will help open conversations regarding the American education system. From first year teachers to experienced veterans, parents in my community to parents who just have questions, and everyone in between, I am here to share my experiences, answer questions, and challenge the perspective of traditional teaching.
